Notice: This post is not exclusively by the #FreshOut9ja team, its by one of our loyal readers so all criticism can be directed to @gagamysterious on Twitter.
This part is a critical part of
my letters, because it is very hard to predict the future of any individual
most especially when it comes to music but I am going to be positive with these
chaps included in this list because I believe they will surely deliver a
perfect music for us all in 2014.
We have a lot of upcoming talents
in the industry and I know most of the readers out there would be like “who is
this one that is selecting or wetin she even sabi for music wey she dey talk?”
I am open to critics and believe me everyone can’t be satisfied equally. My own
little way of judging music is what I used while compiling this list and I
believe most of you would agree with me.
1.
NIYOLA:
to most people they will take her as an underrated female naija artiste of 2013
but I don’t want to see it that way because of the challenges of her label.
Niyola has been around during the days of Trybes Records even if the
relationship was not so long. I see the potentials in her and I know it won’t
be easy having her come back so easy to conquer the industry. She did very well
with her singles (Toh Bad, Belle no be show ft Sound Sultan) and a banging
video of Toh Bad. I have a very strong feeling uncle Banky would take time out
a little so as to help her music grow in 2014.
2.
TEKNO:
Well, I would say hard work pays. I know he could see back then when I met him
as a producer but was not even expecting him to be well known as a musician
rather as an artiste but thank God he is there now. He debuted with “Holiday”
which he features O.B.O and trust me, that song was massive which got him the
MMMG signing. I believe that was just a tip of his ice bags but I believe 2014
would surely have him give us more hit to stick to our lips. Yes, I say so,
Tekno can do it.
3.
YUNG L:
Grip Music, Good Music. I so much believe in this young man. He has done well
for himself sincerely, feature on different songs and then he dropped a song
and video for SOS and the response from it shows that he will be accepted in
the industry with time. I am putting my bet on him if anyone would challenge me
that this guy would definitely be unstoppable in 2014.
4.
ESE
PETERS: I know plenty people go accuse me on this but I would like anyone
doubting his presence of him on this list to take time to listen to him. He did
series of covers [The Way You Are (Darey Cover), Walk Away Baby gone (Asa
Cover)] before dropping “OMOTE” which got him a nomination spot in the just
concluded Headies2013. I actually believe he is going to do better come 2014
and I’m hoping my prediction of his would be right.
5.
MISTURR
K9: it saddens my heart whenever I listen to “Kokoma” which was a massive
tune of 2012 composed, produced, mix and mastered by this young man, multi
talented he is and in addition he can do the whyne ur waist dance. I wonder
what uncle ELDee was thinking when he pause this guy’s promo to focus on
“Samba” which ace producer Sarz featured Wizkid on. I am not saying the SAMBA
song was not a hit but wizkid was going to take the shine of the song away with
him while K9 will bring the glory to Tribes Records. I gave up on a video for
it already in February 2013 but to my surprise after almost 14 months a video
was released when we are already tired of the song *whew*. Well, I know all
these was ELDee’s fault or maybe Sheyman’s fault for taking the IMAN deal away?
Maybe Yes, Maybe No but I am sure lessons well learnt in 2013 and won’t repeat
itself so I am expecting a fantastic 2014 from him.
6.
DANAGOG:
Many people might be wondering who is this one again, maybe because he was
signed to HKN that was why I have him on my list, Maybe Yes &/or Maybe NO.
The chap has been around for a very long time oo, he is an underground artiste
looking for a long time, he was on a track “Emoti” which DJ Debby featured him
alongside Orezi and Igho. He then dropped a single “Bobo ti Bobo” and a video
for it as well in 2012. I believe his inclusion to the HKN gang would help him
grow more and get him the fame he has been long looking for with the help of
O.B.O, I am sure he will thrill us well in 2014.
7.
SOJAY:
I think the same thing that happened to Misturr K9 applies here. It is sad
though and that is why I won’t say much on his own case. He has done a lot of
covers which most of Nigerians accepted before he later dropped his own single
and video. I so much believe in his talent and I am sure with their 2013 bad
management experience, he will make positive adjustments and marks come 2014.
