Twenty million people hit with serious food shortages in Mauritania

Millions of people in the north African Sahel region are experiencing serious food shortages, aid workers said Wednesday.

The crisis has engulfed 4.3 million Malians, including those displaced after Islamist militants took over northern Mali last year.
Meanwhile, More than 850,000 children are receiving lifesaving treatment. The largest humanitarian effort of its kind ever in the Sahel region.
