According to a study by Dr. David Weeks, former head of old age psychology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, a healthy sex life is particularly important as we grow older. Doctor Weeks claims a healthy sex life can make men and women look five years younger because regular sex releases endorphins to the human system which is a natural painkiller that also reduces anxiety.
    Sex is a form of exercise which boosts circulation, aids the heart and help humans sleep better. A healthy sex life also results to the human growth hormone to be released which makes skin look more elastic. Dr. Weeks got his findings by questioning various men and women about their sex lives. The study found that people who looked younger than their age had sex 50 percent more than people of similar age. 

The stereotype of an elderly person is that when they get their pension and bus pass, they stop having sex and that’s not true. Sexual satisfaction is a major contributor to quality of life, ranking at least as high as spiritual or religious commitment and other morale factors, so more positive attitudes towards mature sex should be vigorously promoted,  He stated.
