After 26 years of being in charge at Manchester United, the Scottish football manager who has decided to quit managerial duties has worked with some of the best football players in the world. Here is a list of his best signings ever.
Robin van Persie:
The 29 year old Dutch striker has helped Manchester United secure their 20th league title this season with his 24 league goals. The former Arsenal FC striker moved to Old Trafford in 2012 for £22.5m to get his first ever premier league medal.
Cristiano Ronaldo:

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, born on 5 February 1985 played for Manchester United between 2003 to 2009 and scored a total of 118 goals in 292 appearances, throughout his stay in Manchester United. Ronaldo who joined United for a sum of £12.25m became the most expensive footballer in history after leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid in a transfer worth £80 million.
Nemanja Vidic:
The Serbian footballer joined Manchester United in January 2006 from Spartak Moscow for a transfer fee of £7m. So far he has scored 15 goals in 186 appearances. The Red Devils captain is famously known for his prominent defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand.
Roy Keane:

The Irish manager and former footballer played for Manchester United from 1993 to 2005. The former midfielder who joined Manchester United for £3.75m scored 33 goals in 326 appearances and helped United achieve a sustained period of success in more than 12 years at the club before moving to Celtics FC.
Edwin van der Sar:

Van der Sar who joined Manchester United at age 34 in 2005, is the only goal keeper than can be compared to Peter Schmeichel. He is the most capped player in the Netherlands national team history. He currently works as an analyst and could becomee a coach in the future.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær:


The former Norwegian footballer, who spent most of his career playing for Manchester United was active between 1996 –2007 for the Red Devils. Solskjær who was nicknamed 'the Baby faced Assassin' scored 91 goals in 235 appearances.
Eric Cantona:
Éric Daniel Pierre Cantona joined Manchester United in 1992. After scoring a total of 64 goals in 143 games, the French actor and former international footballer for the French national team quit football. King Eric as he was fondly called had a poor disciplinary record throughout his career which included a conviction for assault on a fan in 1995, that didn't stop his passion for football. He won four Premier League titles in five years and two League and FA Cup Doubles.
Steve Bruce:

Stephen Roger Bruce played for Manchester United from 1987 to 1996 and scored 36 goals in 309 appearances. He was the first English player of the twentieth century to captain a team to win the Double. In the 1990-1991 season, the former centre-back scored 19 goals. Despite his success on the pitch, he was never selected to play for the England national team.
Peter Schmeichel:

Peter Bolesław Schmeichel MBE, made 292 appearances for United between 1991–1999 and was voted as the 'World's Best Goalkeeper' in 1992 and 1993. Unusual for a goalkeeper, Schmeichel scored 11 goals during his career, including one for the national team. He is best remembered for his most successful years at Manchester United, whom he captained to the 1999 UEFA Champions League to complete the Treble.
Denis Irwin:

Denis Joseph Irwin, born on 31st October 1965 played for Manchester United between 1990–2002. As a full back, he scored 22 goals in 368 appearances.  Denis who joined United from Oldham Athletic for a transfer fee of £625,000 could take penalty kicks like cantona and was reliable when it comes to freekicks.
