Anuoluwapo Akinloye, 25, who resides at Segun Kehinde Street, Ogijo in Ikorodu, Lagos, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, Rafiat Akinyemi to death after raping her because she broke up with him. According to reports, the suspect, Anuoluwapo, who bragged that he's a cultist had earlier threatened the life of the deceased who is a devout Muslim.
Mother of the deceased, Mrs. Rashidat Akinyemi, stated that at the beginning of their relationship, her daughter told the suspect that she couldn’t marry him because of his religion but the suspect converted to Islam and changed his name to Ismail. She further revealed she called Anuoluwapo and talked to him like a mother, she said he was told to take it easy with Rafiat till she's through with her education. Another member of the family also called the suspect and told him that marriage is not by force and that he should stop threatening her. That was just three days before the incident.
The suspect confessed he was in company of others who are yet to be identified and has been transferred to the Ogun State Police CID Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for interrogation.
